Peckham Inc. – 3PL Forklift Operator

Important Information:

Wage: $21.28/4.57hr Health & Welfare Benefit (for each hour worked will go toward your medical, dental/vision insurance or to your 403(b) if you do not elect insurances.)

Location: Location: Watertown A Warehouse (5408 W. Grand River Ave. Lansing, MI 48906)

Shift: 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

SUMMARY

Will work in a large warehouse environment receiving items from delivery trucks and placing items in the appropriate warehouse area. They could also be picking items for outbound shipments, sorting inbound DLA shipments, or manually loading or unloading trucks or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations according to the WMS.

The persons in these positions will work relatively unsupervised throughout the day. At the start of the shift the person will be given a hand-held radio frequency unit with an LED readout monitor, a bar code scanner. The hand-held unit directs the material handler to the location where items need to be placed in the warehouse. The worker will also have to key in information from stock that is received to produce labels for those items. The worker must be able to verify that the items are being placed in the correct storage area. Accuracy is extremely important, but speed is also a factor. The worker must be able to recognize discrepant 15-digit part numbers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Use radio-frequency stock locator.

Reports any discrepancies in orders to Shipping and Receiving supervisor.

Key in 15-digit part numbers into computer.

Meet established deadlines.

Maintain warehouse equipment by following manufacturer’s standards of use and cleaning.

Work with supervisor towards meeting performance standards.

Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Daily use of a fork truck, reach truck, push carts and motorized pallet jacks.

Operate with a high level of accuracy.

Enter computerized data and print tags.

Provide training support for peers.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years old.

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.

Must be able lift up to 40 pounds on a moderate basis.

Must be able lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.

No positive drug screen for the past 12 months.

Must have reliable transportation to get between job locations.

Individual must be able to gain and maintain the necessary security clearances.

Basic English reading and writing levels.

Basic math, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Must be able to recognize discrepant 15-digit part numbers.

Must be able to be licensed on a forklift and a reach truck.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Maintain respectful communication, give, and receive feedback.

Ability to follow directions.

Problem solving skills.
