Position Title: Specialty Software Engineer Lead
Position Location: The manager has team members at two locations below. Hybrid = 3 days in office

Initiatives/Projects:
Working to Enterprise migration out of SAS, team owns and supports staffs usage, moving from SAS to an alternative solutions.

Team Dynamic:
Team size of 5, working with Data Engineering team, Data Science team, and interacting with various broad tech teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:
o Convert a current internal process that will need to be converted from SAS to Python
o User enablement and support – providing individualized support and group sessions/office hours to help LOB SAS users convert processes to Python, offering troubleshooting/guidance, addressing concerns, and helping to resolve migration-related issues
o Conduct a comparison of SAS and Python capabilities and identify functionality gaps, provide recommended workarounds/alternatives/adjustments
o Produce detailed documentation and step-by-step guides for converting common SAS functions and procedures to Python (should cover statistical methods, data manipulation, and reporting)
o Creation of FAQ and troubleshooting resources to address common issues
o Organize training sessions and workshops to accelerate SAS user adoption of Python
o Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with ACC to ensure they are fully equipped to manage user issues and continue supporting the migration after contractor engagement ends
Must Have Technical Skills:
– SAS 6 yrs
– Python 6 yrs
– Ability to not just code or develop, but also understand the business need, so they can translate that into Python. Understand how users are using SAS and implement it better into Python.
Flex Skills/Nice to Have:
1. Familiarity with Hadoop, Impala, Hive, Spark and R (an open source language).
Soft Skills:
1. Ability to communicate effectively with people who have various technical abilities.
2. Good speaking skills – recording workshops or trainings
3. Good written communication – slides, emails, comms.etc
4. Organized – stay on task and meet hard deadlines
