TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (INCIDENT RESPONSE)

Summary About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army MSCoE, Homeland Defense/ Civil Support Office, Incident Response TRNG Dept (IRTD) on Fort Leonard. Fort Leonard Wood is located in South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a more than an hours drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood. Responsibilities Assist in the development of multimedia instruction products and determine the scope of unit and individual training requirements by performing selected needs assessments and analysis. Instruct and review a variety of instructional packages for training in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise (CRE) tasks to military and civilian responders. Perform extensive analysis of accumulated data and information on training packages. Review instructional material and related training aids and devices used in conducting the training for Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRNE) defense courses. Coordinate with subject matter experts, other instructors, Training Management Department, Safety, Foreign Disclosure Officer, Army Training Support Center, and outside agency personnel as needed for product review/input/approval. Use of various training manuals, study guides, lesson plans and other available reference sources to present training. Perform quality control and standardization checks on modules and delivered products. Prepare classrooms and training areas for instruction. Review schedules of instruction. Maintain liaison and obtain information from instructors and instructional specialists with the organizations and in other training organization or activities. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes:1.) instructing students in the use of equipment, principles, and/or practices of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise (CRE) 2.) utilizing basic and specialized CBRN response equipment, techniques, and procedures and 3.) working with hazardous materials and emergency response procedures and equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
