The Food Service Specialist 1-3 vacancy is a full-time position located within the Nutritional Services department.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Food Service Specialist 1, Food Service Specialist 2, or Food Service Specialist 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No specialized experience or training is required.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:

To perform basic level food service preparation duties within a food service operation.

Level of Work:

Entry.

Supervision Received:

Close from a Food Service Specialist 5 or above.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Location of Work:

All state agencies.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Food Service Specialist 2 by the type of supervision received and the independence of action.

Examples of Work

Prepares salads; cuts desserts; makes tea, jello, and sandwiches; and fills salt and peppershakers prior to mealtime.

Washes, chops, and cuts vegetables; opens cans and assists food preparation specialists in preparing foods prior to cooking.

Measures and assembles ingredients.

Washes dishes and pots.

Performs duties that involve the cleaning and sanitation of the food service area.

Prepares trays and special formulas for special diets.

Gathers materials necessary for dough making.

Assists in mixing, kneading, and preparing breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, etc.
