Job Overview
We are seeking an innovative and strategic Global Head of Platform Engineering to lead our platform engineering initiatives, including operating systems, virtualization technologies, hardware engineering, storage engineering and technology provisioning. This role will focus on building self-healing capabilities and enabling self-service deployments to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient platform operations across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
– Develop and implement a comprehensive global platform engineering strategy that encompasses operating systems, virtualization, hardware engineering, and technology provisioning.
– Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to enhance platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency
– Develop and implement a comprehensive global storage and cyber data protection strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
– Drive innovation in storage, cyber data protection technologies to enhance organizational efficiency and resilience and integrating self-service deployments and self-healing capabilities.
Team Management:
– Lead and mentor a team of engineers and architects.
– Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
Operational Excellence:
– Oversee the design, deployment, and management of operating systems and virtualization technologies.
– Ensure robust hardware engineering practices to support platform scalability and performance.
– Implement self-healing capabilities to automatically detect and resolve platform issues.
– Enable self-service deployments to empower teams and enhance operational agility.
– Oversee the design, deployment, and management of storage solutions, including File, Block and Object storage, and hybrid environments.
– Ensure robust data protection measures, including backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
– Implement advanced cybersecurity measures to protect data against breaches, malware, and other cyber threats.
– Monitor and optimize storage and data protection performance, capacity, and cost-effectiveness.
Technology Provisioning:
– Develop and manage efficient technology provisioning processes to ensure timely delivery and scalability of resources.
– Collaborate with other IT leaders to integrate platform engineering strategies with broader IT initiatives.
Security and Compliance:
– Implement and enforce platform security policies, procedures, and best practices.
– Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
– Implement and enforce data protection and align with cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
– Ensure compliance with global data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.
– Conduct regular risk assessments, penetration tests, and audits to identify and mitigate data-related risks.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
– Work closely with other IT and business leaders to understand their requirements and ensure alignment with platform engineering solutions.
– Act as a liaison with external vendors and service providers to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
– Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform engineering practices and technologies.
– Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of platform engineering.
Required Qualifications:
8 years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4 years of Management experience
8 years of platform engineering initiatives (including operating systems, virtualization technologies, hardware engineering, storage engineering and technology provisioning) experience.
5 years of significant experience leading complex technology initiatives in a large and dynamic segment of a financial services organization.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven experience in a leadership role managing global teams.
In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix, etc.), and hardware engineering principles.
Experience with self-healing capabilities and self-service deployment technologies.
Strong understanding of technology provisioning processes and best practices.
Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
