JOB SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Lead is accountable for motivating, coaching, training and communicating effectively to the Distribution team. This individual assists the Warehouse Supervisor in managing resources to exceed daily safety, productivity, quality, and delivery goals. The Lead is also responsible for performing and facilitating the completion of a variety of manual and/or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Accountable for employee development, coaching, training and mentoring
· Perform hands-on training for Warehouse Workers according to proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety, and quality policies
· Contribute to achievement of departmental and DC goals, including daily order response, productivity, safety and quality
· Responsible for leading the daily operation in the absence of the Supervisor, which includes conducting shift-start meetings, managing labor allocation and daily goals according to plan, and supporting team member needs
· Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees throughout the warehouse
· Accountable for 6S activities (Lean principles) within department
· Completes process and performance audits within department
· Participate in kaizen events and projects as assigned with a focus on improving processes; partner with leadership and warehouse team to implement changes
· Assist in daily operational Warehouse Worker duties as necessary. Use powered equipment to perform operational processes
· Demonstrate situational leadership and supervision in support of Polaris work culture and values
· Communicate effectively through all levels of warehouse to provide a clear and consistent message
· First Aid/CPR First Responder
· Performs additional duties as assigned
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
· High school diploma or GED equivalent
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. individually, and 75 lbs. with a team lift
· Must be able to stand/walk for full 8- to 9-hour shifts
· Must be able to tolerate heights up to 26 feet
· Must be willing to operate power equipment as duties require (after completion of internal power equipment training based off regulatory standards)
Preferred (Top Candidates Will Have):
· Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or active pursuit of degree
· Previous Distribution experience and/or leadership experience (0-2 years).
· Fundamental understanding of operations processes including receiving, pick/pack/ship, inventory, operations, and facilities
· Experience using Personal Computer and software programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, AS400, WMS, Microsoft PowerApps & PowerBI
· Experience using handheld barcode scanners (RF scanner)
· Proven problem-solving, decision making, and planning
· Experience with LEAN fundamentals, waste reduction, and continuous improvement
· Effective written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to tactfully communicate with Warehouse team members
· Results-oriented individual with ability to create/sustain strong, positive, vibrant culture
· Ability to collaborate and build relationship with coworkers
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Standard warehouse/distribution center environment
· Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required based on site policies, including safety- or steel-toe shoes/boots, long pants that cover the entire leg, and company-approved safety eyewear
· Operational schedule varies based on shift and location – standard shifts are 8-hours in length
· During peak operational periods, overtime may be required, including weekends
Base Pay Range:
$17.85 – $25.62
