DESCRIPTION

The City of Long Beach, Department of Financial Management, is in search of two (2) Customer Service Representative I Non-Career positions to support the Business Services Bureau. These positions will be part of the Business License Division and will be an integral part of the team that assists and supports the local business community.

Non-Career employees are allowed a maximum of 1,600 work hours available over a 12-month period and are considered temporary, at-will employees who are not typically eligible for benefits. However, non-career employees may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals subject to applicable federal and state provisions.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Answers customer questions at public counter, over phone, and dedicated email account regarding business licenses;

Processes business license applications;

Processes garage sale applications;

Receives block sale applications and verifies all requirements are met;

Sorts mail and gives it to proper License Inspector;

Assists with support for sidewalk vending program; and

Per forms other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

One (1) year of recent clerical or customer service experience.

Ability to utilize Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).

Ability to exercise tact, judgment, and patience in assisting the public.

A valid motor operator’s license, or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation for field travel.

Willingness to work an irregular schedule, including nights, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays.
