Job Description

Structural Analyst (or Stress Analyst) to provide analysis (some design) of complete aircraft. This engineer will span a broad range of activities in support of systems development for an advanced highly-efficient tiltrotor aircraft. You will conduct preliminary sizing and configuration trade studies across all aerospace disciplines (aerodynamics, structures, aeroelasticity, flight controls, systems, propulsion) to understand airframe design trade-offs impacting the aircraft system-level performance. The role leans heavily towards analysis duties with some modeling and design abilities being helpful. Responsibilities include:

– Analysis of metallic components and composite structures through hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NASTRAN.

– Utilizing analysis software such as Nastran, Hypermesh, Patran, Apex, and Catia composites to conduct analysis projects and tasks, including bulk data file manipulation and creation, linear/non-linear, buckling, and frequency response analysis for aircraft design and certification.

Hard Skills

R&D, prototype engineering for composite and metallic within aerospace, space, defense, automotive, Racecar, Racing industries

Structural analysis (or stress analysis) – hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NASTRAN

Experience with analysis software – Nastran, Hypermesh, Patran, Apex, Catia composites

Analysis projects and tasks – bulk data file manipulation and creation; linear/non-linear, buckling, frequency response analysis types

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Lake Forest, California.

Work Environment

The company develops and manufactures fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including manned and unmanned tiltrotors. They are actively developing the Optimum Speed Tilt-Rotor (OSTR) and other technologies for transport applications. This is a small company with about 48-50 people, offering a laid-back, family-like environment. While they gear up on hours as projects near deadlines, they strive to maintain a positive work atmosphere and avoid becoming too hectic. Employees wear multiple hats and collaborate heavily.
