The Environmental Technician Support Staff will provide assistance in wastehauler station coverage, technician room support, and trunkline monitoring sampling. This role primarily involves oversight of permitted wastehauler trucks, supporting the Source Control Inspection staff, and assisting with monthly sampling for trunkline monitoring programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that environmental monitoring and waste management programs are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Location: Fountain Valley, CA

Job Type: 6-month contract

Pay: $22- $23/hr.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Responsibilities:

Oversee the operations of permitted waste hauler trucks at the designated waste hauler station at Plant 1

Conduct hauler verification, manifest review, sample collection, and waste screening of sanitary, grease, and brine hauled waste streams

Monitor and observe approved discharges to ensure compliance with regulations.

Maintain sampling equipment and supplies for Source Control Inspection staff

Perform daily maintenance, washing, and inspection of composite samplers to ensure proper function

Assist in conducting monthly sampling for the trunkline monitoring program at Plants 1 and 2

Help maintain and update data collection log sheets to ensure accurate and consistent documentation of sampling activities

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a laboratory assistant or similar role is highly desirable

Experience in performing basic sampling and laboratory testing

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Windows 7-10 and MS Office 365

Experience with Maximo (or similar asset management systems) is beneficial for managing equipment and maintenance requests

Strong attention to detail for data entry, sample collection, and documentation

Ability to lift and carry sampling equipment and supplies as needed

Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks related to sampling and equipment maintenance
