Ear Nose Throat: The Ear, Nose, and Throat Operating Unit is a global leader and trusted partner for innovative ENT solutions that improve patient access, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. We continue to launch valuable ENT solutions in these areas as well as tissue health and balloon sinus dilation.
The Manufacturing Engineer II will draft, approve, execute, and maintain relevant documentation such as manufacturing work instructions, specifications, drawings, process sheets, FMEAs, and facilitate validation protocols as necessary to support implementation of equipment projects, as well as new process integrations. You will lead and establish complex project plans to ensure deliverables are completed to customer’s expectations, using project management tools (e.g., Project Plan, Risk Analysis, etc.) using experience in complex root cause analysis, corrective actions and driving CAPAs to closure. You will report to the Site – Sr Engineering Manager and will act as a technical liaison between functional groups while training, developing and mentoring junior engineers and technicians to use good engineering design practices. Manage required builds for new product development in a pilot or production setting, including training of operators, coordination with production planning, preparing manufacturing procedures and work orders, ordering materials, installing fixtures and equipment, supervising builds, and troubleshooting assembly issues.
The daily activities will employ DMAIC, Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and other appropriate methodologies to define problem statements, conduct voice of the customer/business, establish current state, identify waste, propose future state, manage stakeholders, and utilize change management to ensure effective adoption of improvements by end users. Implementing innovations into practice for continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives, as well as supporting Maintenance of Business activities focused on the manufacture of drug eluting stents for the sinus supporting the ENT business.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Designs and maintains manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
Designs arrangement of production lines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Provides input and insights to engineering team recruiting activity.
Provides input and expertiseto budgeting and work planning activity.
May lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Leads Kaizen events for achieving stepwise improvements in manufacturing.
May lead engineering team as backup to manager.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Technical Sciences.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 0 years of relevant Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
Nice to Have: Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following skills, experiences, and certifications.
Experience in medical device manufacturing or manufacturing in a highly regulated industry/environment.
Advanced degree in Engineering.
Experience working in a regulated environment including compliance with 21 CFR 820, 210/211 and ISO 13485 including GMP.
Experience with micro-plume spray coating.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified- Black Belt Certified a plus.
CAPA experience.
Versed in Minitab
Demonstrated problem solving abilities and technical competency.
Prior knowledge and experience inLean Six Sigma
Prior knowledge and experience in Solidworks in drafting manufacturing fixtures, engineering drawings, line layouts, etc.
Demonstrated communication skills in presenting information effectively and collaborating with different cross functional groups to achieve work objectives.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$88,800.00 – $133,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
