PRIMARY PURPOSE
Promote positive associate relations while managing retail operations during the evening hours. Ensure
store compliance with company policies, practices, legal requirements and ethical procedures. Manage
evening merchandise quality and presentation and the level of service offered to our customers; ensure
that evening store conditions involving store appearance, security, safety and food safety are
consistently maintained at the highest level. Build associate and customer relations and promote a
strong culture in support of the Hannaford Strategy. Role model and coach key management how to
effectively manage performance, manage change, and maintain positive associate relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Foster a sales-driven, consumer focused culture through relationship building and promoting an
atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness.
Responsible for the overall operation of the entire store, including supervision of all associates,
during the evening hours.
Ensure the maintenance of the stores appearance and presentation and ensure quality
conditions of all products.
Observe and ensure compliance with company security, safety and food safety standards.
Complete understanding of the causes and means for resolving inventory shrink issues in the
assigned departments.
Have a solid understanding of standard practices for all departments
Post open positions and actively recruit to fill them with the right people. Assist with hiring
decisions in conjunction with management for “key” and salaried roles.
Be the gatekeeper of all training programs in store. Ensure support and appropriate, timely
training is being delivered to newly hired associates.
Coach management as needed.
Oversight of Learning Programs.
Review written counseling sessions and terminations for fairness and consistency.
Assess department climate and seek associate feedback as needed. Partner with AR Specialist,
Assistant Store Manager and Store Manager to resolve issues.
Oversee Payroll Administrator and ensure that payroll functions are completed accurately and
on time.
Partner with store leadership to help support all changes impacting associates.
Support disability and workers compensation open cases; act as liaisons between corporate
partners, retail managers, and associates.
Responsible for investigating and responding to associate and customer complaints.
Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree or equivalent preferred.
Retail management experience preferred
Strong understanding of store operations.
Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with extreme confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks
and technical requirements of the job.
Demonstrated good judgment.
Ability to lead and coach associates throughout multiple departments.
Ability to effectively lead change.
Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting
organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager” or will be required to attend company
provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of
employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring
accreditation.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use computer and other communication systems required for performing functions.
Ability to move freely about a retail store, with occasional bending and lifting as a contributor to
various operational functions.
Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, including overhead lifting and up to 60 lbs. occasionally. Push/pull up
to 40 lbs. regularly.
Meet established volume and fixed activity standards.
Stand or walk 100% the majority of the time.
Ability to reach, grasp and lift individual stock items below waist level or above shoulder level.
Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging
materials, and food production.
Frequent Bending, kneeling and squatting.
Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
Salary range is between $52,500 – $73,500 Annual
