Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS) is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The Upper School (9-12,) established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road campus. Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Part-Time CDL Bus Driver, to start immediately. The bus driver will transport students to and from school following a scheduled route and ensuring their safety.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Compensation: $30 – 34 per hour.

Responsibilities:

Maintain a commercial driver’s license as required by the Department of Transportation

Safely drive a transportation vehicle along prescribed routes, picking up and discharging students at designated stops.

Obey all traffic laws

Transport students and teachers on field trips, planning necessary routes and stops as needed.

Ensure the cleanliness and mechanical soundness of the bus by conducting daily sweeping, emptying the garage, and seasonal exterior bus washes.

Perform inspections and safety checks of the bus before and after each route, and fill out the inspection booklet.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during transportation.

Report any mechanical repairs needed to the appropriate personnel.

Services buses with gas, diesel fuel and oil checks when necessary. Fills tires and batteries.

Immediately report all accidents, requesting police or ambulance services as needed, and assist injured persons until services arrive. Complete all required accident reports following the established accident procedure.

Be willing to submit to drug testing when required.

Operate a two-way radio for effective communication.

Maintain Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification.

Be available for potential after-hour and weekend overtime.

Qualifications:

Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) 

Passenger and school bus endorsement required.

Experience working with children preferred.

Ability to pass drug testing requirements.

Strong adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and the ability to perform vehicle inspections.

Prior experience in bus driving or a related field is preferred.
