Quality Control Specialist- Food Lab- Paramus, NJ

Essential Responsibilities:

Conduct visual inspections, monitor product weights, codes, labeling, and other quality checks throughout the manufacturing processes to ensure product quality. Accurately document all checks and test results.

Enforce compliance with GMPs (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), Personnel Practices, Critical Process Points, Food Safety & Quality Policies, and SOPs. Follow and model adherence to all food safety and employee safety rules and requirements.

Ensure proper setup and functioning of measuring and testing equipment; calibrate and verify production and quality instrumentation such as scales and thermometers according to the Calibration Schedule.

Place suspect materials, equipment, or finished products on HOLD and communicate these instances to the Management Team for appropriate disposition.

Review, verify, and maintain organized records related to Production, Quality, Traceability, and Statistical Process Control.

Investigate and troubleshoot quality or food safety issues, concerns, or customer complaints. Collaborate with QA Management and manufacturing supervisors to enhance proactive responses to food safety problems and reduce production issues.

Perform food safety inspections of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with internal, customer, and third-party food safety and quality requirements.

Regularly inspect retain product samples and maintain accurate records of findings for trend analysis and corrective action, as needed.

Conduct scheduled in-house environmental air quality monitoring, including sample collection, chain of custody paperwork completion, and sample shipment to third-party labs for outsourced environmental monitoring activities.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels of quality (e.g., agar strips, certified weights, sponge swabs) and production (e.g., cleaning utensils, knives, thermometers) equipment and supplies.

Contribute to the monitoring, development, and improvement of food safety and quality policies, programs, and procedures.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

2 to 5 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, food manufacturing/processing, product development, or quality control. HACCP, PCQI, and SQF Certifications preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in food sciences or a related field is a bonus but not required.
