Part-Time Faculty: Entertainment Business Capstone (Spring 2025)
Syracuse University
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach TRF 461.1 w/TRF 661.1 Entertainment Business Capstone during the Spring 2025 semester (1/13-5/6) which meets Wednesdays 9:30am-12:15 pm (3 credits).
Course Description: This course is a project-based course focused on individual culminating achievements in the study of entertainment business. This class challenges entertainment business students to apply accumulated knowledge and experience toward aspirational outcomes. The Newhouse School was built to create things – by building, doing, solving, acting, solving, launching, innovating – in short daring to fail. In creating an entertainment business project, students are expected to create and shape the future they want to see.
Each week students will build their projects by participating in scenario-based training exercises and interaction in the field (i.e., outside the classroom) intended to build confidence, public speaking skills, and awareness about the business environment, which will be critical in functioning successfully within a 21st-century media industry. Students will be expected to source business opportunities, evaluate business ventures, and/or provide advice and guidance to businesses and professionals based on the prevailing trends in the industry.
(no class on January 20th – Martin Luther King Jr. Day and no class on March 10th – Spring Break)
