Looking for a flexible, part time teaching job? Buffalo Hearing & Speech is seeking Fee for Service Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEIT). We are looking for SEITS in all areas of Western New York including Southtowns, Northtowns, and Niagara County. Create your own schedule – choose when and how many cases you will see!

Our SEITs are paid on a per completed session basis:

CPSE (preschool) SEIT 60 minute sessions at $46/session

Early Intervention basic 30 minute sessions at $39.50/session

Job Summary: The Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) works as a member of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for designing and implementing individual lessons to meet the students IFSP or IEP goals. The special education itinerant teacher will work with the student at a Pre-K (or UPK), a Head Start, a daycare, or in the home. Services will occur either in the classroom or out of the classroom depending upon the requirement of the IEP.

Essential Functions:

Evaluates each child in each area of skill development using formal and informal measures upon entrance into program and provides updates on a quarterly basis.

Responsible for lessons involving readiness skill development and modeling appropriate speech and language skills during sessions

Involvement in the design and implementation of goals toward development of age appropriate skills for each child as indicated on their IFSP or IEP.

Assists and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, including the childs regular education teacher, in the implementation and carryover of individual therapy goals. Provides ongoing information to the multidisciplinary team regarding specific teaching and/or behavior management strategies.

Assists the child within the classroom or home environment to encourage compliance with expectations.

Will gather information on a monthly basis from each of the childs provider(s) for service coordination log.

Responsible with other team members for childrens supervision and safety.

Maintains contact with the parent or guardian regarding their childs progress on a regular basis.

Attends IFSP or CPSE meetings when necessary.

Accurately completes and submits required paperwork

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Special Education Teacher behavioral competencies

Ability to learn on the job and change quickly as situations require

Minimum Degree Required: Degree from an accredited university or college in special education teaching

Required License/ Registration/ Certification:

New York State teaching certification in Students with Disabilities Birth – Grade 2 or Permanent New York State Special Education teaching certification

Physical Requirements:

Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.

Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.

Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
