Assistant/Associate Professor of Education, Tenure-Track

Alfred Universitys College of Liberal Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor in Education to begin no later than August 2025.
We seek an Education generalist prepared to teach in some of the areas listed below for a growing program in Teacher Education. We specifically seek a childhood/elementary educator committed to excellence in the field of teacher education who will help students connect theory and practice in the classroom and who will bring a current understanding of pedagogical best practices, with an emphasis on educational technology. This position provides opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students and to expand our programs in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and Special/Inclusive Education.
Salary: $53,000-$60,000-Assistant Professor; $60,000-$66,000-Associate Professor, Annually
Responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities for the Childhood/Early Childhood Program (EC/CE)
Student teaching supervision
Practicum supervision
Cultivate relationships with local school districts and personnel
Prepare student candidates for success on NYS exams and in the job search process
Teaching courses in one or more of the following areas:
Integrated Teaching Methods
Methods of Teaching Literacy
Inclusive/Special Education courses (preference for both undergraduate and graduate)
Assessment
Competency Skills in Teaching Literacy
Math for the Elementary Teacher
Literacy courses at the graduate level
Pursuing an active program of scholarly inquiry
Advising and mentoring students
Engaging in service to the Education Division, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the University, our community, and the profession
Requirements:
Earned doctorate desired, ABD considered (for instructor rank)
PK-grade six classroom teaching experience
Experience with educational technology
Prior experience with student teaching supervision
Background with academically, culturally, and economically diverse learners in inclusive classroom settings
Use of educational theory to inform teaching practice
Desired Experience:
Special/Inclusive Education
Experience with AAQEP Accreditation
Knowledge of New York State teaching certification process and requirements
