ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – SCREEN STUDIES

The Ithaca College Roy H. Park School of Communications invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor appointment in Screen Studies beginning Fall 2025 in Ithaca, NY. This position joins the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies (MASS) with 40 full-time faculty dedicated to teaching and scholarly excellence who offer 4 degree programs for nearly 1000 majors, along with 5 minors. The Park School is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with a $5M inventory of film and digital media portable equipment, multiple studio spaces, and cutting-edge technologies including an LED surround wall for virtual production.
Primary teaching responsibilities of this position include courses in film aesthetics and analysis, American film history, classical and contemporary film theory, and documentary, with opportunities for developing additional courses depending on enrollment, curricular, and institutional needs. Candidates with a particular interest in international/transnational/multicultural cinemas and/or race/postcolonial/decolonized screen studies are preferred.
In addition to the expectation of scholarship, the successful candidate will teach a full course load per academic year, act as an academic advisor for students, and serve on Department, School, and College committees. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging success in all students.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in screen studies or related field is required; ABD candidates who will have successfully defended by the time of appointment are encouraged to apply.

Hiring Range: $61,000 – $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
