Description

The Floater in the Production Operations area works as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

–May be assigned to any of these production areas:

Soil – Receives laundry from customer bags, sorts the laundry by the type of item (uniform, linen, mats, and specialty items).

Washroom – Operates industrial washing machines

Tunnel – Operates industrial tunnel drying equipment

Folding – Operates industrial folding equipment, may conduct hand folding.

May package or hang garments according to customer requirements

Sort – May utilize scanners to sort, tabulate, and ready garments and products for the

customer delivery

Mender/Sewer – Operates sewing machines to mend garments, repair zippers, replace

buttons. May sew emblems onto garments

Stockroom – Receives new goods, inventory tabulation, readies products for new

customers or replacements for current customers

–Visually identifies and segregates merchandise that does not meet specified quality standards. Reports findings to proper person.

–Maintains safe and clean work environment and observes best practices in all production activities.

–Performs other duties as assigned or requested by leadership

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

–Prompt arrival and regular attendance at work

–Ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with others

–Ability to understand all required training, written and verbal instructions

–Basic math skills

Experience/Education:

–6 months work experience, preferred

–High school diploma or GED

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust, water and noise. Work is based on a shift schedule and may include weekends. Overtime required as needed.

Physical Requirements:

–Requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.

–Requires bending, reaching, pulling, twisting, kneeling, and lifting.

–Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations.

–Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.
