Part Time Bus Operator

Our Bus Operators start Part-Time at $27.83/hour, increasing to $31.93/hour after one year. Operators can move up to Full Time positions with benefits as vacancies allow. Applicants must be at least 21 years old to apply, and MUST have a good driving record. Hours of operation are 5:30am-10:30pm; schedule is Monday through Saturday, 20-25 hours per week. Must be able to work flexible schedule, splift shifts.

A Class B Commercial Drivers License is preferred, but not required. We begin with 4-6 weeks of paid training. This position is considered safety-sensitive, and therefore will be subject to Pre Employment and Random Drug & Alcohol screenings. 

SOME of the job duties and responsibilties include:

– This position is responsible for operating AMTRAN buses over a predetermined route.  The operation must be accomplished in a safe and timely manner.  Courtesy to customers, motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, etc. is required.
– Position works an assigned schedule as the Authority requires.  Overtime may be required on an assigned basis.
– Must be able to report to work during all hours that the Authority operates including nights and weekends: Monday-Saturday 5:30am-10:35pm
– Must be positive, polite, and helpful with fellow employees, customers, motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and other members of the public.
– Follow company protocol and procedures during shift without direct supervision.
– Must be able to safely perform duties by enforcing passenger safety and conduct rules.
– Maintain constant awareness of traffic and road conditions.
– Practice safe driving by complying with traffic regulations and conditions as well as by utilizing defensive driving techniques.
– Provide information in a courteous manner to passengers concerning routes, schedules and fares.
– Operate fare collection and other types of electronic equipment as prescribed by Authority procedures.
– Sell multi-ride tickets and transfers to passengers.
– Perform all duties regardless of weather, traffic conditions, and passenger load conditions.
