Section 1: Position Summary

As a Data & Insights Analyst at Ascensus, you will act as a ”Data Journalist” investigate, interpret, and synthesize results from internal and external research, data analysis and experimentation to deliver consumable insights that develop thought leadership content, public relation highlights, sales narrative and corporate industry comparisons and opportunities. You will be instrumental in transforming insights into actions to achieve business objectives, drive our brand and position in the marketplace and support growth and other corporate strategies. The position will build and deliver valuable intel utilizing business intelligence, generative AI and analytics techniques to expedite and improve. You may fulfill other duties in support of overflow needs of the Insights and Analytics team.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Research:

Identify, gather, and review external sources for comparative analysis on market position and trends.

Support Marketing department research needs.

Facilitate and contribute to the data mining process ensuring business acumen and data science are combined effectively.

Manage vendor research relationships.

Business Insights:

Interpret research and the team’s analytic results to develop and deliver informative, consumable, and valuable intelligence, recommendations, and notable trends.

A major part of the job is problem solving; determine meaning of trends and analytics and how Ascensus can benefit and achieve desired outcomes.

Drive better understanding, decision making and outcomes through advanced analytics, exploration, and research.

Partner with line of business teams to realize benefits inspired by business intelligence.

Collaboratively create value added insights that enhance our thought leadership content and bring forth valuable and noteworthy public relations insights.

Data Analysis

Design, build and deliver intel and recommendations thru statistics-based approaches and analytic tools and code.

Validate that data sources meet requirements of the effort and outcomes.

Analyze data quality identifying improvements and solutions for data gaps.

Develop a deep understanding and working knowledge of all Ascensus data sources; their purpose, structure, definitions and how they are populated.

Effectively execute data preparation / curation responsibilities

Perform data segmentation, review and reporting of expansive data sources.

Adhere to and recommend improvements to data governance.

BI tool utilization and analytics reporting:

Build and maintain a foundational set of our client trends for ongoing reference and thought leadership usage.

Optimize use of AI and other analytics tools to improve reporting and communications that best inform.

Present, report and communicate insights so they inform the audience effectively.

Maintain delivery and distribution of existing suite of dashboards and reports.

Deliver ad hoc request results when volume requires.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

Required skills:

Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple large projects, research, scheduled tasks and reporting with competing deadlines.

Excellent analytical skills.

Proven data relationship understanding through prior job experience or education.

Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening. Asking appropriate questions, clarifying information, and writing clear, concise documents.

Significant experience and knowledge of business intelligence software applications such as Power BI, Tableau, or others.

Bachelors degree in business data analytics, marketing or similar.

A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence and data mining

3 years of experience in data analysis with advanced SQL programming skills

3 years’ proficiency with data visualization tools.

3 years’ experience in an Ascensus line of business or related financial industry

Advanced analytics and data mining: the ability to apply appropriate analytical techniques to answer the business questions providing actionable insights. Identify and utilize best math principles and methods to achieve goals.

Strong communications skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening. Asking appropriate questions, clarifying information, and writing clear, concise documents.

A team orientation: strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to network with internal business partners across the organization.

Proven ability to independently investigate and interview knowledgeable sources to build expertise becoming a more valued partner and contributor to current and future efforts with stakeholders.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Experience with web tools including Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics

Experience with qualitative research analysis.

Experience in Python or data mining solutions such as Knime
