Payor Specialist (Patient Collections)

Description:

Review billing information, debt, and unpaid insurance claims.

Verify accuracy of claims data, including CPT and HCPCS codes.

Submit electronic and/or paper claims promptly.

Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding bills.

Negotiate repayment plans and resolve payment discrepancies.

Monitor claim status and follow up on rejections and denials.

Maintain accurate records of account activities, adjustments, and collections.

Document interactions with patients and insurance companies.

Interpret medical insurance cards and verify patient eligibility.

Confirm coverage details and benefits.

Provide excellent customer service to patients and address inquiries related to billing and collections.

Explain payment options and assist with payment arrangements.

Stay informed about changes in billing and coding practices.

Collaborate with other departments (such as billing, finance, and customer service) to streamline processes.
