Job Description
To ensure the water treatment plant and distribution system is well maintained and rflects an image od outstanding quality and to provide safe & clean water in accordance with federal, state & local legisation, policies & standards.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in the full upkeep of preventative maintenance at the water treatment plant, including keeping logs on work done, scheduling and the assignment of projects and other related tasks.
Ensure proper maintenence and ise of the SCADA system and call box.
Assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in the procurement of supplies.
Assign work by priorities, ensuring all customers have adequate water volume and pressure and that all leaks, bad valves and sustem issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Create and maintain schedules for distribution system maintenance to include but not limited to fire hydrant testing, valve cycling, meter repair etc.
Maintain up-to-date inventories of nedded repair and maintenance supplies.
Respond to customers requests quickly and professionally.
Work with the water treatment staff on a shift basis and coordinate their activities.
Maintatin all aspects of the water treatment plant and disttribution system in order to ensure the availability of a clean water supply.
Maintain the treatment plant systems.
Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes.
Service and repair water treatment plant equipment including intakes, piping, storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, pumps and valves.
Ensure there is an adequate supply of water for human consumption & firefighting.
Order supplies, replacement parts and fuel for water treatment plant equipment.
Maintain plumbing in the water treatment plant.
Arrange for major repairs when needed.
Complete required Virginia DEQ/DPQR water tests and keep appropriate records.
Maintain appropriate chemical levels to ensure safe drinking water at all times.
Ensure a clean safe environment at the water treatment plant.
Ensure the operation of generators during power outages.
Ensure meters are read and recorded on a motnhly basis.
Ensure maintenance of daily logs.
Provide reports to governmetn agencies and other organizations, as needed.
Ensure appropraite repairs and maintenance is performed on municipal water supply, including vlaves, piping, meters & Hydrants.
Other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Must have and maintain a Virginia Class 4 Water works Operators License or higher.
Must be able to lifet up to 25 lbs.
Standing for long periods of time.
