POSITION SUMMARY: The incumbent is responsible for operating and maintaining wrapper and winder machinery as well as other equipment. Good communication skills and must possess a thorough understanding of the Dry End operations and its complexities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Correctly obtain all required supplies, labels, and packaging and apply per product specification.
• Cut Cores to correct specifications
• Unload the core trailer
• Assist with Lab and Rewinder operations when needed.
• Perform visual inspection of finished products.
• Communication between the Dry End Operators and the Delta Former Operator of production data produced on shift.
• Maintain a properly cleaned area in and around the Winder, Wrapper and supply staging areas.
• Responsible for relief duties of the Winder Operators.
• Must work in a manner that is safe while continuously ensuring quality, production and performance expectations are met.
• Responsible for observing safety precautions at all times and reporting any environmental incidents to their Supervisor.
• Participation and completion of required EH&S training. Responsible for performing monthly BBS observations and other audit programs, cleaning, painting, and maintaining 5S system.
• Responsible for performing SMATs and/or TFs and be an active participant in all other facility audit, manufacturing and efficiency programs. This includes WCM involvement in projects and/or meetings, as required. Incumbents are responsible for ensuring 5S standards are met and maintained. Incumbent is required to clean, paint, etc. to maintain 5S standards. The incumbent is responsible for performing assigned duties until properly relieved.

• Rotating 12 hr shifts
• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-2 Years minimum Forklift Operating Experience
• Current Forklift License
• Industrial Manufacturing Experience preferred / Computer Literacy
• 1 year minimum of manufacturing experience and/or currently pursuing a manufacturing certification through a certified program
• Good working knowledge of plant/Production policies, procedures.
• Good oral communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Able to support disaster recovery plans to ensure customers receive uninterrupted service during times of crisis.
• Excellent Attendance Practices Required
• Ability to deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs and maintain a positive demeanor.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work an average of 40 hours per week, speak clearly so others understand, vision acuity to see details within a few feet of an observer, accepting of criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor, and model change management for the business. Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards whenever engineered methods of reducing hazards or physical requirements cannot be reasonably accommodated. Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. May require long periods of sitting, walking, and standing, working on a computer or engaging in telephone conversation.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant is not temperature controlled; dust, fumes, and high noise areas are present inside plant areas. Manufacturing processes involve fiberglass, glycerin, latex and formaldehyde. Noise levels exceed 80 dB in some areas of the site. Moving equipment such as fork lifts, buggies, genie booms and industrial sweepers travel throughout the facility, sometimes in congested areas.
SAFETY & HEALTH:
Follow the CertainTeed Health and Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within Production department and notify co-workers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions. Proper use of PPE at all times. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with the 5S philosophy. Facilitate and/or participate in safety training and safety committee meetings.
QUALITY ASSURANCE & PROCESS CONTROL:
Support a zero-defect system through process control, to minimize non-quality related costs and to improve customer satisfaction. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company’s quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to instructions, specifications and quality standards are met. Identify and segregate non-conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventative actions when appropriate.
