Project Manager – (Georgia Department of Transportation Projects)

This position is responsible for the set up, execution, and close out of projects within cost, schedule, and safety / quality standards. Requires efficient use of personnel, along with tools and equipment to maximize production. Supervise and assign foreman to crews. Maintain a positive working relationship with clients, as well as other customers. Promotes additional work with clients. Responsible for innovation and implementation of new construction methods and techniques. These are primarily Department of Transportation projects, but may also involve other markets that the company is involved in.

American Lighting and Signalization (ALS) provides street lighting and traffic signalization construction, maintenance and emergency response services in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Our major customers include state departments of transportation (DOTs), investor-owned and municipal utilities, commercial retail land developments and commercial road contractors.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Project Initiation

Development of new customer contacts and business opportunities.

Attend pre-bid and post-bid meeting and determining personnel, materials and equipment requirements.

Technical Review for constructability, production expectations, milestone recognition.

Project Planning

Materials management plan creation.

Develop, implement and maintain project execution plan that will ensure assigned projects are completed, on-time, and within budget.

Project Execution

Supervise and assign foremen and equipment resources to crews.

Responsible for quality production and adherence to company Quality Control Program and safety standards.

Responsible for regular maintenance and appearance of all equipment.

Directs settlement of all customer complaints at the initial stages.

Implement Change Control policies.

Monitor and Control Project

Oversees the efficient use of employees, tools and equipment to maximize production.

Maintains a positive working relationship with the clients and promotes additional work with that company.

Reviews production schedules along with work progress and takes corrective actions to meet profit goals.

Reports work in progress, approves pay sheets, vendor invoices and weekly project’s report.

Manages employee corrective actions and terminations, as needed.

Performs on the job training.

Management of construction subcontracts.

Project Closeout

Prepare closing documentation and oversee job book assembly.

Prepare project lessons learned document and report to management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must possess a strong knowledge of field operations and have demonstrated leadership abilities.

Must be able to read engineering drawings and possess experience managing subcontractors.

Strong skills in Microsoft Projects, Excel, Office and Access Data Base.

Education & Experience

A college degree in business, engineering, or technical field is preferred. Significant industry experience may be substituted for education.

Candidates should have at least 2 years related experience with Georgia Department of Transportation projects.

Pre-Screen

Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

Driver License Required.
