Summary You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST in the FLEET READINESS CENTER MID-ATLANTIC, FRCMA VRT DEPT of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER. Responsibilities You will be required to obtain and maintain NAVSEA and NAVAIR Level III NDT certification including Magnetic Particle (MP), Liquid Penetrate (PT), Visual (VT), and Dimensional disciplines. You will plan and carry out assignments independently, determine the scope and level of quality activities based on the requirements, and apply Quality Assurance policies/procedures, and effects coordination with other activities as required. You will conduct Quality Assurance audits, reviews, and studies and to analyze the results. You will plan and implement appropriate procedures during prototype, pre-production, and production. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Substantial knowledge and experience in ensuring the quality and reliability in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) catapult and arresting gear system maintenance and overhaul processes aboard aircraft carriers, air capable ships and shore facilities; Qualifications to perform Visual Test (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Magnetic Particle (MT) inspections IAW NAVSEA TECHNICAL PUBLICATON 271; and Technical expertise within an ALRE maintenance and overhaul organization that includes conducting in-house audits, overseeing quality control processes, analyzing data, and developing strategies or policies to achieve higher quality. Must have at least Level II Qualifications. Examples of qualifying experience include: 1) Providing program administrative oversight and using analytical methods and techniques to ensure and manage each discipline for program compliance. 2) Provide Weld/Brazing/Soldering/NDT (Non-Destructive Test) Program guidance for incorporation into VRT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 3) Performing inspections, monitoring, auditing, evaluating, and maintaining Quality Characteristics Lists (QCLs) and on-site technical surveillance over complex manufacturing operations required in the prototyping, production, repair, assembly, disassembly, overhaul, alignment, and test of ALRE systems and components. 4) Monitors and facilitates implementation of sound business practices to improve product or service quality, turn-around-time and costs, and overall performance parameters. 5) Applies knowledge of product standards/characteristics, production methods, special test methods, and technical data to analyze quality data and develop reports on quality levels achieved Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
