Clinical Research Director
Will have 75 total reports with the support of managers, supervisors, and Ph.D Scientists and PIs
Therapeutic Area: Diabetes, Exercise & Bioenergetics, Aging and Muscle Wasting, Cardiometabolic Disease, Metabolism & Obesity, Nutrition, Weight Loss and Healthy Aging
Develops research departments to achieve recognition for each as a leader in translational and clinical research
Develops and implements the vision, strategic plan and business proforma for clinical and translational research that meets the long-term needs of institution
Responsible for developing the hard assets, technologies and facilities to enable Clinical and Translational research to scale in growth across the larger enterprise
Works with the Governance and Scientific Review Committees that assist with strategic planning, monitoring and ongoing oversight of research
Helps to define and develop a strategy for identifying, educating, implementing, managing and tracking intellectual property arising
from the work of the Institute
Develops philanthropic strategies and campaigns for clinical and translational research teams in collaboration with colleagues
Working with the Executive Director and executive leadership, develops and refines communication strategies and tactics with Physician
Scientists that facilitate strategic and scalable growth of translational research teams and initiatives
Develops and manages partnering strategies for research departments that are aligned with business development teams and external
collaborators
Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of physician and non-physician faculty and key staff members to drive strategic initiatives
Manages regulatory compliance, particularly risk elements tied to compliance requirements including research finance in federal and
industry-funded settings, scientific misconduct, and participant experience
Defines, develops and implements a plan that addresses and manages the local, state and federal regulatory and compliance requirements for
clinical trials and translational research
Responsible for developing annual budgets including the establishment and dissemination of best practices in research revenue
projection, contract negotiation and expense management
Working collaboratively with research finance and Office of Sponsored Program teams, develops teams and establishes processes that track,
manage and matriculate monthly expenses to match the annual budget
Leads cost recovery strategies to effectively manage research portfolios and identify increasingly diversified streams of revenue from the
academic, non-profit, pharmaceutical and philanthropic sectors to fund innovation
Develops, manages, and implements standardized metrics for translational and clinical research teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or relevant discipline
Must have five years of experience leading a research program within a Hospital or Academic facility
Research Operations acumen in translational research setting
