Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training and all associated documentation on assigned projects including more complex projects. Installs, programs, test, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with guidance as needed. Colleague is key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction. Refers more complex issues to higher level colleagues.
Ability to understand architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics to ascertain scope and building features.
Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
Expert understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler and fire codes.
Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions. Writes routine programs for systems.
Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards as well as suggestions for product improvements.
Executes many of the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets including, programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and on-going technical support etc..
Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
Works with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure fire alarm system meets all relevant codes and standards.
Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assists in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
Willing to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
To be a self-starter and work well with little supervision.
Understanding of electronics to include Ohm’s law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third-party equipment.
Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
Expert level programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning of complex Edwards fire alarm systems or equivalent.
To be driven to achieve necessary certifications/licensing related to products, industry, and city/state.
Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Possess NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems.
Possess low voltage electrical license as required by local/state authority.
Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.

Requirements:
Education: High School/GED or equivalent experience
Licenses & Certifications:
Local/State Electrical License
NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems
Preferred Experience: (but not required):
Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience
6 or more years relevant field service
EST4 Certification
