We are seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Chatanooga, TN team! Come join us!
The successful candidate will perform on-site construction inspections of various transportation-related construction projects, including major bridge and highway projects. Project locations may be anywhere within Region II of the Tennessee Department of Transportation which includes Chattanooga, Cleveland, Cookeville, and Livingston and may include neighboring counties in nearby regions
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform on-site construction inspections for conformance to plans and specifications for all roadway, structures, and specialty items being incorporated into the project.
Record the daily work in SiteManager documenting the type and location of work performed, each contractor’s labor and equipment, and all pertinent details relative to the progress of the work
Observe, measure, and record quantities for payment.
Perform daily traffic control inspections
Perform quality assurance sampling and testing
Ensure projects meet compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local rules/regulations and client contract provisions
Inspect and monitor work progress on-site and communicate daily with TDOT, contractor, and other field personnel
Provide photographic documentation of the work in progress, including if/when unforeseen conditions, disputed work, or deficiencies in the work are encountered
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma/GED required.
18 months of progressive experience as a construction inspector on highway/bridge construction projects.
Certifications: At a minimum the following are required:
OSHA 10 Safety Training Construction
DOT Field Concrete Technician
TDEC EPSC Level 1
TTAP Work Zone Traffic Control
Technical Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, specifications, and inspection procedures
Knowledge of highway construction, inspection procedures, and materials testing
Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
Ability to take detailed notes and prepare and review reports
Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions including geometry, trigonometry, averages, and percentages.
