Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily operations of the hospital Gift Shop, including maintaining the appearance and stock of the Gift Shop and providing retail assistance to its customers.

Responsibilities

Assists customers and operates cash register in courteous and efficient manner.

Maintains knowledge of merchandise and prices.

Accurately records gift shop sales.

Responds to customer requests and questions in a courteous manner. Assists customers with selections as needed.

Responsible for restocking and pricing merchandise on a regular basis.

Assists in maintenance of equipment, stock levels on candy, helium, balloons and over-the-counter medicines, and other items requested by department leader.

Maintains the appearance of the gift shop, including proper upkeep of displayed merchandise.

Processes employee payroll deductions, exchanges and refunds in an effective and efficient fashion.

Responsible for training new employees and volunteers.

Maintains an awareness of shoplifters and follows proper procedure in apprehension and arrest.

Opens and closes the store without assistance, balancing sales at days end.

Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

None.Retail experience preferred.
