Your Role on Our Team:
Milwaukee Tool is continuing to grow, and we are seeking a Continuous Improvement professional to unlock the next level of productivity within our Distribution Network. This position is a fundamental part of our cross-functional team located in a fast-paced environment of the Distribution network in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
The Senior Manager of Inventory Control in Distribution is responsible for overseeing the inventory control operations within the distribution network. This role ensures that inventory levels are accurate, processes are streamlined, and overall inventory performance supports the company’s strategic objectives. The Senior Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including warehouse operations, Op Ex, finance, and supply chain, to maintain optimal inventory levels and improve efficiency across the distribution chain.
You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Inventory Strategy Development:
Design and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and support business needs.
Analyze inventory trends and metrics to make data-driven decisions regarding resource allocation and team focus areas.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track inventory health, including accuracy, turnover rates, and days of supply.
Inventory Control and Management:
Oversee day-to-day inventory control processes, ensuring accurate cycle counts, audits and physical inventories.
Implement and maintain inventory control systems and processes, including reconciliation of discrepancies and root cause analysis.
Lead efforts to reduce inventory shrinkage, obsolescence, and excess stock.
Team Leadership and Development:
Manage, coach, and develop the inventory control team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Provide training and development opportunities for team members to ensure they are skilled in inventory best practices.
Collaborate with warehouse managers and staff to ensure inventory procedures are followed consistently across all locations.
System and Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to automate inventory processes and enhance the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Partner with IT to evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve inventory accuracy and visibility.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining inventory processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing costs.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure the right inventory levels are maintained to meet customer demand.
Partner with finance teams to manage inventory valuation, auditing, and reporting requirements.
Support distribution and logistics teams in planning for inbound and outbound inventory flows, warehouse space allocation, and order fulfillment.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure that all inventory control processes comply with company policies and external regulations (e.g., SOX compliance, FDA, OSHA).
Manage inventory risks, including obsolescence, stockouts, and supply chain disruptions, by implementing preventive measures.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for inventory audits and reporting.
Reporting and Analysis:
Generate regular reports on inventory levels, accuracy, turnover, and other key metrics for senior management.
Present insights and recommendations to leadership to drive inventory optimization and cost savings.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to: Director of Supply Chain or Vice President of Operations
Direct Reports: Inventory Control Managers, Supervisors, & Analysts
The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
7 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or supply chain operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of inventory management systems (WMS, ERP) and best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret large sets of inventory data.
Knowledge of distribution and logistics processes within a large-scale operation.

Proficiency in MS Excel, data management, and inventory software systems.
Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Office-based with frequent visits to distribution centers and warehouses.
May require travel between multiple distribution centers or corporate headquarters, depending on the organization.
