Job Summary

This nine-month, tenure-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the School related to athletic training and sports medicine, developing a programmatic line of research, mentoring graduate students, and providing service to the school, college, university and professional organizations. This position further includes serving as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Commitment to build and sustain a robust research agenda to include creation and dissemination of new knowledge.

Pursuit of external research support.

Supervision of undergraduate and graduate research projects.

Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate coursework related to athletic training and sports medicine.

Assisting with the assessment and evaluation of athletic training and sports medicine programs in consultation with the other core faculty.

Serving as the Clinical Education Coordinator within the Master of Science in Athletic Training program.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate in a Sports related healthcare field (Kinesiology, Athletic Training). ABD considered but must be completed by the start of assignment.

BOC certified (ATC) and eligible for licensure in Mississippi.

NPI number or ability to apply for one before the start date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated line of scholarly inquiry evidenced by submission of peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, and/or grant submissions.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of clinical experience as an Athletic Trainer.

Understanding of CAATE standards.

Experience supervising student research.

Success in pursuit of internal/extramural opportunities for research.
