The Enterprise Data Architect will be responsible for defining enterprise architecture Patterns & Standards related to the flow of enterprise data in support of use cases spanning analytics, data science, and AI. Additionally, the candidate will work with data architects and data engineers across the enterprise to identify needed capabilities and patterns, and to consult on and evaluate data solutions for alignment to enterprise patterns and standards. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of data integration, data management, and data consumption use cases and the associated technical capabilities and enabling technologies. Experience with large-scale data modernization and migration from an on-premises deployments to the cloud will be a plus. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to effectively share your knowledge. The individual will contribute to defining the enterprise roadmap for advancing our data architectures, capabilities, and technologies and will ensure that the appropriate considerations are made for Agility, Security, Operational Efficiency, Quality, and leverage of cloud-native capabilities.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location ( Hartford, CT, Charlotte, NC, Chicago, Il, Columbus, OH ) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities:
This person acts as a key liaison between the data solution architecture teams and other enterprise architecture functions (e.g., application, cloud, infrastructure EA functions)
Define architecture approaches to guide the development, deployment, and adoption of secure, reliable, and scalable digital and data solutions across the Enterprise.
Author re-useable solution architecture patterns and detailed reference architecture documents enabling the end-to-end data flows from source to use for various use cases such as reporting and analytics to real-time integrations.
Make it easy for engineers to find and implement appropriate and approved solution patterns solving their business partners most pressing and complex needs.
Engage in communities of practice that evangelize the benefits and promote the adoption of re-useable solution patterns, along with establishing a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement and iterations of such patterns.
Define solutions to maximize investments in Enterprise data platforms and their capabilities to minimize technology capability sprawl and complexity.
Research industry, market, vendor technology trends to identify impactful emerging technology trends for evaluation and future application.
Provide thought leadership and grow the understanding of data platform capabilities to enable leaders and data engineers to understand current and future use case solution possibilities.
Partner with Data Engineering teams to execute technology tooling and platform evaluations to ensure consistent, methodical, and efficient reviews as part of technology adoption framework.
Help assess the current state of the data and technology landscape to identify gaps, pain points, and business drivers and contribute to the development of the future state vision for the landscape that will solve for those needs.
Provide SME input to architectural decisions.
Demonstrate data platform capabilities in the context of use cases and patterns.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required (or experience equivalent)
5 years’ experience architecting and/or delivering data solutions within a large and complex enterprise, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, ideally within the insurance and financial services industry.
Prior experience with large-scale data integration and data management platforms.
Strong understanding of Snowflake environment, ETL tools, and modern data integration practices.
Experience with delivery methodologies such as Agile and SCRUM.
Negotiation skills and ability to influence others by educating and sharing information.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Migration of legacy data solutions to cloud is a plus.
Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
Expert knowledge of computing architectures.
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture discipline and frameworks.
Building and maintaining relationships with architects and engineers to understand current and emerging business needs.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$118,880 – $178,320
