### Position Summary

Oversees the operational and personnel activities for the State Room restaurant, bar, and special events inside the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center to ensure their success; assists with interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating all part-time and full-time team members; assists with managing special events for the State Room; oversees team members to ensure adherence to all food service standards for the State Room; assists with developing and implementing training programs to ensure consistency and promote outstanding guest service; facilitates daily line-up with all team members to share information and increase communication; communicates frequently with Chefs, State Room Managers and all restaurant team members regarding business levels, needs and menus; understands and upholds all State and Local liquor laws; training staff on alcohol awareness and service standards; assists with the State Room beverage program; assist with the monthly beverage inventory. 

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

### Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Nutrition, Dietetics, Hospitality Business Management, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in food/beverage preparation and presentation in a food/beverage operation or restaurant;  or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

### Desired Qualifications

Experience in food & beverage operations in an upscale restaurant, wine service, and/or planning special events; experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA, and gender backgrounds.
