DMOS is seeking an independent minded Physician Assistant to work primarily at our Ankeny Urgent Injury Clinic. This individual will be responsible for delivering the highest quality of orthopaedic care using independent judgement to consult, evaluate and diagnose patients with orthopedic pain and injuries. This position will work the hours between 7:00AM – 3:00PM, Monday – Friday and work rotating Saturday clinic coverage from 8AM – 12 PM. Do I want this job? You want a position working independently with oversight of a physician. You enjoy working with a variety of trained medical and administrative professionals. You understand that our patients are hurting and may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You enjoy the clinical aspect of providing orthopaedic care to patients. You are aware there is Saturday coverage and able to work the hours for this position. The positions hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00AM – 3:00PM (or until the last patient leaves) and Saturday 8AM-12PM (or until the last patient leaves). This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. Must be sensitive to employee goodwill and the business needs.
Can I do this job? Under general supervision, you will provide independent acute and/or routine medical care to a wide-variety of patients. Must possess the ability to work independently, possess critical listening skills, and the ability to communicate clearly (verbally and written). You must have a kind, curious and respectful disposition. You may need to be on your feet for long periods of time. You may also need to transport, position or hold patients when necessary. You must to be able to lift at least 50 pounds for select tasks. You must maintain an active CPR Certification (DMOS requirement for Physician Support Staff). You are required to meet all vaccination requirements of each institution they work in to retain credentialing status; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification if required for institution requirements.
What does an outstanding PA have in terms of background? Successful candidates in clinic may have had prior Orthopaedic experience in a clinic setting or urgent care clinic setting. A Physician Assistants Degree from a state accredited PA Program. You must be practicing (preferred) or pass the exam administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and be eligible to practice in the state of Iowa while working as a PA. You must maintain your license.
