Position: Primary School Recess Supervisor Brookfield Academy, a
private, independent, college preparatory day school, is seeking a
part-time Primary School Recess Supervisor for the 2024-25 school year.
Position hours are Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM-1:30 PM. Philosophy The
Primary School Recess Supervisor at Brookfield Academy should ascribe to
the Statement of School Philosophy and be comfortable with such Academy

recognize that the Academy is a private independent school for both
practical and philosophical reasons, and that private education is seen
here as an ideal, as well as a means to an end. There should be a belief
in the value of substantive learning and in the schools academic
mission, as well as concurrence with the broader philosophical stance
identified in the Mission Statement. Overall Objective As an essential
employee to the daily operation of the Primary School and someone who
may present a first impression of Brookfield Academy to parents,
students, and school visitors, the Primary School Recess Supervisor must
be aware of his/her impact and should make every effort to represent the
school appropriately. The role of the Recess Supervisor is crucial to
ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and well-being of students during both
snack and lunch recess periods. The Recess Supervisor will be
responsible for overseeing all aspects of student playtime, from
supervising activities on the playground to maintaining an accurate
inventory of recess equipment. In addition, the supervisor will be
expected to communicate clearly with the Division Head, classroom
teachers, and parents regarding any disciplinary actions or behavior
concerns that arise during recess. This position requires a proactive,
organized individual with the ability to create a safe, positive, and
engaging environment for students. Qualifications Strong interpersonal
skills are needed for daily contact with students, parents, and faculty.
Behavior management skills and a calm demeanor are required, as well as
general first aid and CPR. Previous experience working with young
children, preferable in a school setting or in roles requiring
supervision of large groups. Strong understanding of safety guidelines
for playground and outdoor activities. Excellent communication skills,
both written and verbal, to ensure effective coordination with teachers,
parents, and administration. Ability to enforce rules in a firm but fair
manner while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment for
students. Strong organizational skills to manage equipment inventory and
daily recess logistics. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work
