Job Summary The eligible register developed from this posting may be used to fill future FT and PT vacancies within this classification. This position is part of Scott Countys Coordinated Response Unit and will work with local law enforcement inside the Scott County Jail, as part of a partnership with the Scott County Sheriffs Office. It is an in-person position, with some capacity for hybrid, that will respond to service needs of inmates. Hours will be generally M-F, 8-4:30, but may vary based on service needs. These will be individuals who are involuntary, who may have significant mental illness and/or chemical dependency, have current criminal charges, and or a criminal history. Individuals are often currently in crisis and may be a danger to themselves or others. Essential Duties Performs assessments to determine clients needs; facilitates safety response through collaboration with County Attorneys Office, law enforcement, hospitals, detox centers, community resources, family, and other professionals. Provides crisis stabilization intervention, ongoing safety planning and intervention, and critical incident stress debriefing to divert from further correctional and law enforcement involvement. Maintains current records and documentation according to Minnesota Data Privacy Practices, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Medicaid, and Department of Human Services. Provides education, consultation, and training for other internal and external agencies. Develops and maintains professional relationships with referral sources, including providing feedback and consultation regarding specific clientele. Screens for substance use and abuse. Reviews and updates documentation of the persons status, with cultural and situational consideration. Assists with Prepetition Screening responsibilities when individual is a candidate for commitment to the Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner. Demonstrates working knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations, as well as professional standards of practice, related to mental health case management, community support programming, and commitments. Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with other employees, supervisors, customers, vendors, and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals. Performs other related duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications Requires a masters degree from an accredited college or university, and a current Mental Health Professional (LICSW, LP, LMFT or LPCC) licensure OR the ability to obtain MHP licensure to practice independently within 24 months. The incumbent shall possess a valid drivers license and provide a reliable means of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications: Background or experience working collaboratively with law enforcement or other first responders. Ability to speak a second language (Spanish, Somali, American Sign Language, Russian) Previous experience working with County Social Service Agency and/or in a correctional, law enforcement, or military setting. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) Knowledge of and experience with person-centered strategies. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effective in cross-cultural settings. Previous experience or working knowledge of SSIS. Selection Process Selection for this position will be based on a minimum qualifications screening and rating of training and experience.
