M Health Fairview is looking for a Psychiatric Assistant at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 48 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more. The starting base rate of pay for the position is $22.35. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.

Job Responsibilities
The Psychiatric Assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. The focus is on adult mental health.
Maintains safety on the behavioral services’ unit.
Maintains and carries out checks documented on the accountability sheets and restricted access items sheets.
Conducts room searches.
Exhibits appropriate use of de-escalation skills.
Responds and participates in BCS situations.
Manages the milieu by observing patients in the environment at all times.
Responds and participates in CPR situations as designated.
Performs basic patient care routines and procedures according to treatment plan.

Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and usual interventions.
Delivers individual care including ADL’s and vitals signs.
Participates in unit specific routines and group/individual programming.
Possesses knowledge of the DIAP documentation method and charts in a concise manner.
Identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to resolve them.
Monitors and maintains therapeutic milieu
Exhibits appropriate use of de-escalation skills
Participates in active involvement, observation and intervention
Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans.
Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team
Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner.
Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Performs other tasks as needed.

Bachelors Degree in a related field
BLS at the end of orientation
