MAT Heavy Duty, LLC (“MAT HD”), a subsidiary of MAT Holdings, Inc, is a leading producer and distributor of commercial vehicle brake products servicing the original equipment and aftermarket space. The company produces new and remanufactured FleetLine and Gorilla branded brake shoes along with a variety of customer private labels. MAT HD has 3 sites across the US and Canada and 300 employees, which gives it the structure to be the first in class for national presence and localized service.

The Supply Chain Planner is involved in all aspects of the supply chain, including but not limited to procurement and sourcing of raw materials, the S&OP process, forecasting / demand planning, material planning, and customer service. The role works closely with sales, operations, production scheduling, logistics, program management, quality and customer service teams to manage inventory availability and sales order fulfillment. It also entails direct communication with vendors to prioritize purchase orders and customers to provide delivery updates as needed. Overall objective is to support the operations team in achieving on-time delivery in full and other KPIs while keeping costs down. Extensive use of SAP and Excel is required.

Principle Responsibilities

Oversee inventory levels for various programs across 3 sites in coordination with program management, customers, vendors, and plant production schedulers.

Establish and maintain the appropriate stocking strategies, taking into account vendor capacity and lead times, forecast, production scheduling, and warehouse space.

Issue and manage purchase orders to vendors. Monitor vendor performance and communicate issues as needed.

Maintain purchase pricing, import conditions, and other material master data in SAP.

Support the operations team in driving on-time delivery for customer orders.

Participate in program launches, expansions, and S&OP, and ad hoc projects with sales, vendors, program management, engineering and other internal / external stakeholders.

Proactively engage with operations, logistics, third party freight providers, customers, and vendors to resolve any material shortages and/or supply chain issues. Recommend solutions such as expedited freight options, alternative routes / vendors, material substitutions, or plant to plant transfers to minimize disruption to order fulfillment.

Identify and ensure disconnects such as anticipated material shortages, non-conforming material, excess or obsolete materials are continuously monitored and resolved.

Coordinate with logistics to review and manage drayage provider requests for inbound container deliveries.

Track and report on inbound containers to internal sites and external customers.

Take on or put together projects that improve the supply chain processes and KPIs.

Work with IT to implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system solutions.

Competencies and Expectations

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present data in an organized and concise manner.

Ability to manage and summarize large amounts of data.

Ability to learn, multitask, and prioritize in a fast paced environment.

Ability to react to issues by identifying the root causes, proposing solutions, and executing actions items accurately.

Ability to read bill of materials and technical information behind SAP reports and processes.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Flexibility with working hours to accommodate meetings with teams in different time zones.

Travel to manufacturing sites in US and Canada once per quarter expected.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering

2 – 4 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or inventory management

Experience with SAP a plus
