POSITION PERFORMANCE PLAN: Physicist, Cancer Center

Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL is currently seeking a full-time medical physicist. The medical center has state-of-the-art technology. The radiation department is ACR, CoC and NAPBC accredited and committed to the highest standards of patient care. Rush Copley currently has 2 medical physicists and 2 dosimetrists. The satellite center, Cancer Center of Lisle is about 20 miles away and has a new TrueBeam machine installed on July 2024 and will treat patients starting Oct 2024. The hired physicist will primarily cover the Lisle clinic with support from the physicists at Rush Copley Cancer Center.

Job Duties Include :

Clinical support of patient care, including support with patient simulations, planning, QA, and plan reviews

Actively involved in dosimetry planning, which includes IMRT, RapidArc, HDR, SRS, SBRT and 3D planning

Clinical support of brachytherapy procedures which includes simulations, treatment planning, dose verification, and being present for treatments

Actively involved in HDR Brachytherapy planning mainly GYNE Brachytherapy.

Maintenance of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality assurance procedures for hardware and software throughout the department

Perform peer reviews as well as initial, weekly and final chart checks

Involved in commissioning of new equipment and software

Participate in chart rounds and quality improvement meetings

Assist in updating and creating new policy and procedures for the department

Involved in ACR re-accreditation process

Consult with other physics, physician, dosimetry, and therapist staff in the implementation of new treatment protocols

Rush Copley and Lisle Cancer Center are both located in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, with easy access to downtown Chicago via car or Metra trains.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree in Physics and certified or eligible for Board Certification.

Membership in AAPM.
