Responsibilities
What youll be challenged to do:
Gannett Fleming TranSystems is hiring an Associate Railroad CADD Technician to join our downtown Kansas City, MO office. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting, and an interest in learning and working on project assignments with railroad civil engineering aspects. The proposed candidate will be expected to learn various design standards such as BNSF and Union Pacific (UP) and to be able to transition smoothly between the various standards. MicroStation/AutoCAD aspects that the individual should be knowledgeable in include alignment tools, grading tools, profiling, surfacing tools, and corridors. In addition, the individual should be familiar with and willing to expand their knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office products to produce construction documents. The individual will be called on to work closely with other team members and will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a unique work environment.
Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):
– Understands and can use Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
– Understands basic railroad standards including horizontal and vertical curves, turnouts, derails, etc
– Understands standards and where/how to find them and apply them.
– Can sketch basic horizontal alignment layouts and drawing.
– Has basic knowledge of GeoPAK tools.
– Basic plan sheet creation and layout.
– Setting up and maintaining plotting for projects (print organizer).
– Understand and follow the companys standard CAD procedures for file naming, levels, line styles, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
– Maintain neat and orderly file organization on PW that will allow access to project information to other team members.
– Assisting with occasional construction inspection/field visits to obtain an understanding of project construction, data collection tasks, etc
Qualifications
What you bring to our firm:
– High School Diploma or GED.
– Formal CADD Training certificate or coursework.
– 0-5 years of experience.
– Intermediate user of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
– Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
– Work well in teams.
– Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:
– Previous experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D design.
– Microsoft Office working knowledge.
– No relocation or stipend assistance.
