Overview
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for radioactive materials and operating radionuclide measuring and imaging devices for the purpose of obtaining diagnostic information concerning various bodily functions and structures.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain quality control for all imaging equipment and radioactivity assaying devices in the Nuclear Medicine Department.
Prepare radio-pharmaceuticals for patient use, administer radio-pharmaceuticals to patients and perform nuclear medicine procedures.
Operate nuclear medicine computers to enhance the diagnostic value of information obtained from nuclear medicine procedures.
Follow internal protocols when processing computer studies to achieve high quality films by choice of filters, slice selection, display parameters, image intensity and labeling techniques.
Maintain records and logs as required by department protocols and licensure requirements; log patient dose administered, progress notes and other pertinent data.
Schedule patients for nuclear medicine examinations, question patients and/or review patient charts for facts of patient history which are pertinent to interpretation of nuclear medicine examinations by the radiologist.
Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
Administer and record isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol.
Observe patients during procedures and report any abnormal activity.
Collect, prepare, and analyze biologic specimens and prepare data for interpretation.
Follow radiation safety techniques when disposing radioactive materials.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in related field preferred.
Current/valid CNMT certification required.
2 years radiology experience required.
Pay Range
$35.99 – $52.19 /hour
