As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Trades Apprentice, Maintenance Repairer 1, Maintenance Repairer 2, or Maintenance Repairer Master depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). The maximum salary for the Maintenance Repairer Master is $6,566.00. Trades Apprentice: $16.06 hourly

Maintenance Repairer 1: $17.18 hourly

Maintenance Repairer 2: $19.67 hourly

Maintenance Repairer Master: $21.05

Examples of Work:

60% Facility Maintenance: Performs and assists repairs to buildings owned and operated by DOTD. Make repairs such as but not limited to unclogging drains, plumbing, replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, broken windows, ceiling tiles & floor tiles. Perform repairs to hot water heaters, water fountains, and small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed eaters. Performs carpentry work such as hanging doors, and repair to walls, floors and structures; repairs to water lines; repairs to door locks and door hinges. Performs painting, sanding and scraping on buildings, fences and curbing. May be required to install and/or repair fencing.

25% Required to have knowledge of tools and their operations. Performs pressure washing & graffiti removal.

10% Provide assistance to other trades.

5% May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency/ disaster support activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No experience or training is required.

Trades: Cabinetmaker, Carpenter, Cement Finisher, Electrician, Instrument Technician, Insulator, Locksmith, Machinist, Mechanic, Painter, Pile driver, Plasterer, Plumber, Refrigeration and HVAC Mechanics, Rigger, Roofer, Sign Painter, Operating Engineers, Sheet Metalworker, Pipefitter/Steamfitter, Upholsterer, General Mechanical Maintenance jobs and Welder.

Function of Work:

To assist a journeyman level tradesman and to learn the trade by on-the-job training or formal instruction as prescribed by the employing agency.

Level of Work:

Entry.

Supervision Received:

Close from a journeyman level tradesman or assigned instructor.

Supervision Exercised:

None.

Location of Work:

May be used by all agencies; statewide.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from other entry or basic maintenance jobs by the performance of work directly subordinate to skilled tradesmen with the goal of preparing the incumbent for journeyman level status.

Differs from the journeyman level because it does not independently perform journeyman work in any trade.

Assists a journeyman level Trades Job in its assigned duties.

Performs limited skilled tasks under close direction of a journeyman in an on the job training program.

Participates in training as prescribed by an assigned journeyman or agency policy.
