We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Material Manager to oversee the aspects of purchasing, scheduling, stockroom, shipping & receiving within our New Iberia site. The Material Manager will play a crucial role in aligning our material and purchasing activities, partnering with other sites in our Cryo business segment, ensuring efficient operations and smooth supply chain processes. Acting as a player/coach, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of material and purchasing employees, placing requisite purchase orders, optimizing inventory levels, enhancing vendor relationships and performance, and driving overall cost savings.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

• Manage the procurement process, including planning, sourcing, and selection of vendors while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery for the New Iberia location.

• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

• Implement and maintain procurement policies and procedures for efficient purchasing operations.

• Lead the receiving team to ensure efficient storage, handling, and distribution of all materials, equipment, and spare parts.

• Develop and maintain accurate inventory levels to minimize stock-outs, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.

• Implement inventory control processes and systems to enhance accuracy, traceability, and efficiency for the site.

• Collaborate with production managers and other relevant stakeholders to establish accurate production schedules based on material availability and project requirements.

• Monitor and adjust production schedules accordingly to optimize capacity utilization and minimize prevent lost production time and downtime.

• Oversee the shipping and receiving operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials and products.

• Coordinate with logistics providers to manage transportation schedules, optimize delivery routes, and reduce costs.

• Ensure proper documentation including material test reports, bills of lading and shipping records, to track and ensure accountability of shipment and certifications.

• Lead a team of purchasing, scheduling, shipping & receiving employees, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance their productivity, performance, and professional growth.

• Conduct performance evaluations, set objectives, and oversee training programs to continually develop the skills and knowledge of the team.

Your Education Should Be…

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

• APICS certification, and/or Lean manufacturing experience highly desired

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

• Proven work experience as a Sr. Buyer, Material, or Purchasing lead, or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or construction industry.

• Experience and knowledge with JDE MRP software

• Solid understanding of inventory control, procurement, and logistics best practices.

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team effectively.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

• Office and Manufacturing Plant Environment

• Lift up to 20 lbs.

• Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other movement as necessary

• Manufacturing Plant – required PPE when necessary
