Overview
After 3-4 years in the industry, the Sr. Account Executive plays a more senior role on the account management team and demonstrates critical thinking skills to identify program needs and provide recommended solutions. The SAE is dialed in to the competitive landscape and has a firm grasp on the client’s category, industry, and business. The SAE is learning to push creative ideas further and is beginning to evaluate client assignments and briefs with a strategic eye. The SAE is capable of drawing conclusions and pushing for the “so what?” – drawing implications and writing an agency point of view.
The Sr. Account Executive is both reliable and accountable. This person is executing day-to-day ‘A and B’ level projects with minimal supervision, and collaborating effectively with business leadership and clients. The SAE is capable of bringing fresh ideas to the table while also ensuring all key details are accounted for with a backup plan.
Responsibilities
Develop strong and effective relationships with clients with ability to offer counsel in situations where necessary
Quickly become familiar with client’s brand (requirements, messaging, creative) and effectively work with internal teams to ensure programs are following client protocol
Identify program objectives and evaluate program functions to recommend strategies and tactics to reach client set objectives
Showcase ability to draft framework of effective reports, recaps and POVs for clients; start to support client issues management
Effectively position and pitch ideas; share feedback to internal departments effectively
Identify opportunities to contribute and support new business efforts and showcase ability to support smaller scale program from conception to development
Effectively manage small group of junior staff and be proactive in making sure team members are following up on assignments, hitting deadlines, etc.
Serve as a role model for junior staff, driving our vision and values
Play active role in team development including managing team goals and holding meetings with staff to track progress against goals
Assist in driving team meetings/client calls including coordination of agendas and client ready documents
Collaborate with staff at Marketing Werks outside of core team when needed to enhance program, such as creative, new business or other internal management where relevant
Support management of project financials
Lead day to day team communication and field management, ensuring development and follow through on all deliverables effectively
Showcase ability to project manage from start to finish, in office and in field
Manage day-to-day operations of projects including staff relations, paperwork, routing and overlays, showcasing ability to meet deadlines and coordinate via management tools including agendas, projects plans and budget trackers
Ensure team effectively manages field staff and follows through with communication to teams and clients when necessary (refresher trainings with staff, role playing techniques, refresh of programming, newsletters, etc.)
Manage onsite execution of events including training, event run of show, vendors, load in, labor and tear down
Collaborate effectively with vendors, partner agencies, etc. who help bring client’s ideas to life
Possess full knowledge of agency’s offerings, mission and vision
Qualifications
Proven account management skillset in creating, maintaining, and enhancing client relationships
Thorough understanding of agency processes
Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems in high-stress circumstances
Strong ability to produce inspiring work
Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
Experience in managing teams and individuals, fostering teamwork and a positive atmosphere
Excellent interpersonal skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of experience in the marketing and promotional industry
Physical Demands: Attending indoor/outdoor events may include lengthy walking, long event hours and strenuous activity such a lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Specific Skills: Microsoft Office (proficient to excellent)
Specialized Knowledge, License, etc: N/A
Supervisory Responsibilities: Depending on the client, this role may have some supervisory responsibilities overseeing an AAE or interns.
Working Conditions: Typically an office setting. Travel may include attending meetings at client offices, industry conferences or events. When attending events, setting may be indoors or outdoors.
Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required during busy planning and execution times. This may include travel on evenings and weekends.
Language Skills: English is the primary language skill; however, bilingual skills may be required based on business necessity
