Job Summary
The IT Technical Operations Engineer has primary responsibility for the IT infrastructure including servers, storage, routing, switching, access, monitoring, reporting, service, support, and divisional planning. This individual will have IT Infrastructure responsibilities for projects and ongoing operations. May also provide mentorship to support technicians.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Implement and manage network systems, including configurations and support/troubleshooting network problems.
Develop and evaluate network performance criteria and measurement methods.
Prepare analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructure.
Defines requirements that align with organization’s needs.
Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve performance and reliability.
Provide escalation support for End User Services team members.
Serve as escalation point for M365 platform.
Develop tools and systems to automate tasks or to improve existing ones.
Work with Divisional Shared Services team to align solutions that best meets divisional needs.
Day to day overview of Infrastructure services, including Vmware Hosts, Virtual Machines, SAN, FC Connectivity, and Infrastructure hardware.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, customize and maintain AIX systems while ensuring overall system performance and availability.
Monitor AIX systems, analyzing problems and performing research and maintenance to prevent reoccurrence.
Test and document systems prior to deployment.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
B.S. degree related to Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Minimum 6 years of supporting geographically dispersed Infrastructure and sites.
CCNP, JNCIP, or comparable certifications preferred.
CCNA, JNCIS, or comparable certifications required.
VMware or Microsoft Certifications preferred.
Prior experience with global teams that provide 24/7 operations.
Prior experience with manufacturing and warehouse infrastructure preferred.
Required Skills
Enterprise networking technologies, such as MPLS, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, SD-WAN, etc.
Product and technology knowledge is a must, Cisco knowledge is desired.
LAN and WAN technologies.
Knowledge of wireless (WLC, WAP) and Internet of Things (IoT)
IPv6, multicast, QoS, IP fast rerouting, etc.
M365 platform
Excellent oral and written communication as well as presentation skills required.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
Collaborates with others to drive innovation and optimize work processes.
Windows PowerShell experience a plus
Monitoring and managing servers with a 24/7/365 level uptime.
Hardware and software inventory management
VMWare (VxRail)
Windows Server (All Versions)
SAN (Dell EMC PowerStore a plus)
AIX V. 7.1,7.2 and 7.3 System administration
AIX performance monitoring and reporting (NMON, topas)
LDAP
SSL (Knowledge of Certificates and application of such)
Server virtualization (LPARs, WPARs, VIO, etc.)
Work Environment
Hybrid work.
Working conditions are normal for an office/warehouse/distribution center.
Willingness and ability to conduct meetings outside of normal working hours to accommodate teams based internationally, as needed.
Position will require after-hours on-call duties and/or on-call rotation participation.
Travel up to 25% may be required for support activities.
