Economic Development Coordinator

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general direction and in coordination with the Director of Economic Development, assist in developing and implementing local and external marketing and communication activities to promote and facilitate the attraction, retention, expansion, and formation of businesses in the City of Forney and perform other duties as assigned.

– Assist the Director in developing and implementing marketing strategies to effectively promote the economic opportunities available in Forney, including redesigning and updating the community profile and preparing prospect packets.
– Coordinate with designated City management to design and maintain an economic development website for Forney and prepare press releases and written and oral presentations.
– Prepares and delivers presentations on assigned projects to various commissions, committees, and neighborhood organizations. Coordinates board meetings and prepares agendas, reports, presentations, and supporting documents.
– Manages, negotiates, and administers City-led and publicly funded real estate development initiatives.
– Manages the annual review of active incentive agreements for compliance with incentive agreements on annual commitments.
– Research and compile site location, demographic, and economic information regarding Forney for investment prospects and site location consultants.
– Research and pursue prospective and target employers interested in relocating or expanding to the area.
– Work on retail and commercial-related developments for the city and follow up and track leads generated from the combination of state, advertisements, local, etc., in a timely and professional manner.
– Maintain contact with local employers and businesses by conducting surveys and local business roundtables and forums.
– Coordinate with the Director to represent Forney Economic Development at functions, events, and conferences throughout the metroplex.
– Coordinates the implementation of special projects under the direction of the Director of EDC.
– Manages the Business Retention and Expansion Program; implements strategies directed by the Director to support local employers, programs, workforce needs, and internships.
– Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:No direct supervision exercised.
## Minimum Qualifications
– Possess a valid drivers license.
– Bachelors degree in business administration, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field
– Four (4) years of related experience in economic development, community, business development, or a related field.
– An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
