Job/Position DescriptionDirector IPerforms advanced (senior-level) managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategicoperations and planning for the Department of Family and Protective Services. Work involvesestablishing the strategic plan and goals and objectives; developing policies, procedures, andguidelines; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress inmeeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities or business functions; and reviewing andapproving budgets within departments or divisions. Supervises the work of others. Works under minimalsupervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Essential Job FunctionsDirects program activities and/or business functions within a department or division. and#149;Directs the development, delivery, and support of training functions for DFPS. and#149;Directs division training operations in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. and#149;Directs short-term and long-term goals and objectives of the training division. Develops and implements techniques for evaluating program activities and/or business functions within a department or division; and identifies need for changes. and#149;Oversees all activities and functions that must be accomplished to maintain a desired level of excellence. and#149;Analyzes, designs, develops, implements and evaluates performance measures relative to quality management of training. and#149;Develops standards to measure the quality of development, delivery and support products and services. and#149;Utilizes data to make informed decisions and recommendations for continuous quality improvement. Develops and establishes goals and objectives consistent with the agencyand#146;s strategic plan. and#149;Establishes goals and objectives in accordance with DFPSand#146;s Strategic Plan. and#149;Establishes goals and objectives in accordance with industry standards with an emphasis on innovation. and#149;Establishes goals and objectives in accordance with resources and makes recommendations for resourcing through Legislative Appropriations Requests (LARs), efficiencies within the division and other solutions. Develops, reviews, and approves budgets and major expenditures; and ensures that requirements of funding sources are met. and#149;Develops, reviews, and approves budgetary expenses for training division in accordance with operational business. and#149;Conducts research, develops cost estimates and proposals when recommending new solutions related to the development, delivery, and support of training. and#149;Consults with DFPS Finance to account for short and long-term budgetary impacts. Develops policies, procedures, and guidelines; and implements and monitors compliance. and#149;Develops policies and the resulting processes. and#149;Applies principles of Continuous Quality Improvement to identify solutions for poorly functioning processes. and#149;Oversees the implementation of corrective actions to improve process performance and evaluates the outcome. and#149;Ensures that the delivery of all client requested services and products are assigned to a specific work breakdown structure. and#149;Monitors dashboards to create quarterly reports to communicate organizational performance to stakeholders (e.g. executive management, legislature, and public officials). and#149;Provides job duties here that supports this SAO Essential Job Function.
