Job Summary:

We are seeking a Developer Documentation Specialist to execute the tactical elements of our developer documentation strategy. This role involves designing, building, testing, and measuring internal developer documentation features to support a variety of programs, including developer portals, team handbooks, and end-user documentation for developer tools. The position extends beyond writing, focusing on contributing to an ecosystem of resources and documentation touchpoints for developers. You will work cross-functionally with product managers, program managers, developers, and engineers to ensure accurate, detailed documentation that enhances the user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain internal documentation features for developer portals, handbooks, and tools.

Collaborate with product managers, program managers, architects, and developers to understand product direction and customer needs.

Build strong working relationships across various business units using our tools and services.

Research, test, and document feature sets for a technical audience, including APIs, libraries, and applications.

Contribute to an agile environment by participating in planning processes, sprints, and feedback sessions.

Document and improve tools, processes, and APIs used by the development team.

Gather and analyze developer and end-user feedback via focus groups, surveys, or other mechanisms.

Maintain and improve documentation ecosystems using tools like GitHub, Confluence, and Stack Overflow.

Use measurement tools like Google Analytics to track documentation performance and make data-driven improvements.

Skills & Qualifications:

Strong understanding of API documentation and technical writing for developer tools.

Familiarity with CI/CD processes is a plus.

Basic knowledge of web design and development (CSS, HTML, navigation); experience with block editors like Gutenberg and React is a plus.

Knowledge of docs-as-code frameworks like MkDocs or Docusaurus is preferred.

Experience with GitHub for version control.

Experience with Confluence and Stack Overflow is an advantage.

Proficient with Office 365 tools like SharePoint, MS Teams, and PowerPoint.

Video editing skills are a plus.

Familiarity with analytics and measurement tools (Google Analytics, etc.) to track documentation success.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field preferred.

At least 3 years of experience in technical writing, developer documentation, or a similar role.
