The Technology Analyst will…
Learn the applications that support ACS Publications business, editorial, and content delivery operations, including customer relationship management, subscription fulfillment, and peer review applications and processes; provide application expertise when troubleshooting defects and understanding newly desired capabilities
Support the Scrum Master and product owner with backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, facilitating stand ups, and retrospectives; participate in or lead any of these Agile ceremonies
Collaborate with technical architects and software engineers to ensure alignment on technical design and a detailed understanding of the technical requirements
Manage technical specifications, using Jira to capture requirements details, acceptance criteria, and all necessary information for technical requirements
Collaborate with software and QA engineers to ensure unit tests are understood and thoroughly completed; collaborate with the Agile team and/or business users to support the creation of test plans and execution of UAT and regression testing; ensure test scripts and results are thoroughly captured and set up in Jira (using the Zephyr plug in)
Collaborate with technology staff/vendors around the globe, including with team members in India
Create/ensure appropriate documentation and knowledge capture for applications and technologies
Lead assessment and provisioning of technology solutions, services, and vendors.
Create/maintain technology roadmaps, partnering with product owners, technology leadership, and business leaders to capture and manage portfolio initiatives
Required communication and collaboration skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand format
Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills with software engineers, internal clients, users, and overseas colleagues
Facilitate global teams meeting with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams
Experience with desktop office and team productivity software is required (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
Required organization skills
Ability to complete multiple tasks within set deadlines
Excellent organizational, work management and analytical skills
Qualifications
Required professional experience:
Minimum 5 years experience as a Technology Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role (such as a Project Manager, Business Analyst, or Portfolio Manager)
Bachelors degree in computer/information science or equivalent education
Required software development experience
Experience with the software development lifecycle
Experience with Agile methodology, including sprints and Kanban
Experience with software development testing, QA, and regression testing; writing test cases; creating and staging test content; carrying out tests
Preferred experience:
Certifications in business or technical analysis, project management, or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience of scholarly journal and book publishing, especially with knowledge and experience with business/sales applications and technologies and peer review and editorial processes/technologies
Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Experience with Linux/scripting, XML, and SQL
Location
The preferred location for this position is the Columbus, Ohio, office of the American Chemical Society. For a highly qualified candidate, the location may be the Washington, D.C., office of the American Chemical Society
The employee must be able to work a hybrid schedule, working a minimum of 2-3 days in the office
Typical work hours must be during normal business hours in the Eastern time zone, e.g., between 6am – 5pm
