Job Title: Medical Office Assistant

Job Description

Utilize Medent as EMR for patient records.

Use multiple scheduling platforms to coordinate surgeries for physicians at to perform surgery in local hospitals.

Set up pre-testing and medical clearances for surgery.

Complete prior authorizations.

Support 2-3 providers.

Manage the appointment calendar, schedule patient visits, and coordinate with medical staff availability.

Handle incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate personnel, and address patient inquiries.

Verify patient insurance coverage and collect copayments.

Maintain and update patient records/history, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.

Process insurance claims, create invoices, and manage patient billing.

Provide patients with information on treatments, medications, and post-procedure care.

Order and manage medical supplies and equipment. Work with healthcare providers to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient office operations.

Hard Skills/Qualifications

Experience with patient scheduling and insurance reviews via phone

Knowledge of medical terminology

EMR Experience (Medent)

Previous Medical Assistant experience (Certification preferred but not required)

Soft Skills

Strong communication skills

Attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

Shift: Mon-Fri 730-4pm or 9-5pm – will work out of Sparta and spend one shift a week in Randolph.

1 evening shift expected a week – 12p-8p (This will be scheduled in advance and be routine)

Work Environment

Team of 8 in this department.

Must provide own equipment and workspace for remote work.

Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00am – 6:30pm, no weekends (likely to have 2 days at 8am start and 2 days at 9am start)

May need more evening hours on Mondays if current coverage changes – expected 40 hours per week.
